“I'm very sorry to hear that Doctor Perovic died. He was a person doing incredible things for the world that really helped people — especially for men. It has helped my life and gave me alot to look forward too. I hope one day that the work he started will be all over the world to help people and that he will get credit for being a pioneer.

“I want to make it so all people who might want this surgery [penis enlargement surgery] have enough information to make the ‘Yes’ choice. Once they have taken that step, I want them to have the best information so they really know what they can and cannot do to give themselves the best results. Since I moved to Hawaii, I dont have all the paper work about my diet. … It might take me some time to write down a list but I could email it to you once I have it all.

“As far as the surgery goes, I got OK results (¼ –1/3 of an inch increase in girth) but I think I did a few things wrong and I didn't do the good things long enough or at all.

“Let me explain: (1st) I only stayed on my really healthy diet for about 6-7 weeks. I should have done it for a full year. And I should have taken a protien shake instead of pills cause it has 5-10 times the essential amnio acids than the pills.

“(2nd) I didn't exercise for a long enough time before surgery (6 months +) to have my natural HGH levels up. I didn't exercise later at all even though I was healthy enough to do so. And I only took HGH supplements for 6-7 weeks (post-op).

“(3rd) I believe my biggest problem was I pumped it too much. And I might have pumped it too hard. But I couldn't feel the pump pressure too easily.

“And I would pump it 20 minutes once a day instead of 5-10 mintues twice a day because I would forget to pump once and try to make up for it. Sometimes when I was pumping, I would forget and leave it on longer than I was supposed to do. So, on some days I might have pumped 30 minutes total.

“There are some pumps with gauges that have numbers on them to measure the pressure. My gauge went up to 20 or so. I feel it is best if everyone stops at 5-6 because after that the pump seems to generate so much negative pressure that it pulls the tissue apart or the biodegradable scaffolds apart and causes damage or scarring of the tissue.

“I used a pump before my surgery and my penis would get about ¼ inch thicker safely. Now its gets about ½ inch thicker safely in the same time and at the same pressure of pumping.

“I noticed that if I put a penis ring on that I will gain ¼ inch in girth before my surgery. Now I only gain 1/8th of an inch which leads me to believe that my tissue I grew from the surgery is compressed or dense and it might have become that way that from the over pumping.

“When it tried to repair itself it might have retracted and condensed because the tissue is more dense than my natural penis tissue. That might be the way my body builds the tissue from surgey so I can't be sure If the pumping caused that.

“But I very confident in saying that over pumping will cut your results in half, give or take a little. THE SIZE OF MY PENIS AT THE 7 WEEK MARK WAS 5¼ INCHES IN GIRTH AND THAT WAS WHEN I WAS ON MY DIET ON HGH AND I WAS ONLY PUMPING ABOUT 10 MINUTES A DAY. ONCE I STOPPED THE HGH AND DIET AND I STARTED PUMPING MORE AND HARDER MY PENIS GOT SMALLER AND SMALLER UNTIL ABOUT THE 5-MONTH MARK WHEN IT HAD REACHED 4 ¾ INCHES IN GIRTH AND THAT WAS THE SIZE IT STAYED AT.

“(4th) I feel I had sex a little too much after the 6-week point. There were times I would have sex for up to an hour after my surgery. It was very hard not to have sex alot because my wife really enjoyed it and so did I.

“I am confident that had I done everything right I would have had doubled my results. I would like to help you guys help the world by sharing this important information and what I believe to be important mishaps on my part so you can really press other men and tell them they really really need to do things a certain way for the best result.

“I am very confident that all the information I have given you is 90%+ accurate (the times, measurements, etc) And I'm pretty confident saying my mishaps played a part in my results as I'm sure they do for alot of men who either don't know what they did or are afraid to tell you guys.

“I am going to be coming back to get surgery 1-2 more times and I will learn from my mistakes and I'm sure the results will be double what they were this time and I will let you guys know everything I'm doing. This time I am going to do every thing alot better but I'm not goin to be taking HGH.

“I'm not planning on having surgery till the end of this year (2010) or early next year.

“And once again, I'm sorry to hear that Dr Perovic died. What he has done for me is given me hope and changed my life. His procedure meant the world to me and my wife. God bless him and you guys for continuing it because it really is probably the most important surgery in the world for men. I would hate to live without it.

“One other thing that might help is a very good real multi-vitamin. And in the event that you are using a stretcher for length, or have had that surgery (ligamentolysis), that you use cartilage rebuilding vitamins as well.

“Dear Richard: I am writing to report on my experience when I was in Belgrade two weeks ago.

“You know I have enquired quite a lot since I first started collecting information on ‘penis widening through tissue engineering with biodegradable scaffolds’. This was mainly because of two reasons. The first one is obvious: I knew nothing whatsoever about this type of phalloplasty, so I wanted to learn the ropes of it.

“The second, as you mentioned in one of your previous e-mails, has to do with one’s perspective. Although I am both an open-minded and an optimistic person, I am on the other hand very analytical and wary. That side of me induced me to be rather suspicious right from the start. The main reason being the chaotic world where we live nowadays.

“Crazy thoughts came to mind from time to time: what if you have contacted a criminal gang? What if all this is just a very well organized scam to rip off people’s money? I know they were a ludicrous set of thoughts with no basis at all, but after all human. My main concern being having contacted undesirable people who were impersonating seasoned surgeons.

“That side of me was totally wrong of course. Rados is an excellent guy, and this is the same for Professor Perovic. They are simply great. From the very beginning on March 16th everything was carefully planned. A driver picked me up at Nikola Tesla Airport and took me directly to the clinic where I would be operated next day.

“It didn’t take much for Rados to break the ice and start preparing all the arrangements for the surgery. In fact, we got along like a house on fire from the start. Being Rados is so laid-back and easygoing makes things easier. He also has got a good sense of humor and human touch which is more than necessary in these situations.

“All what I have just stated is true for Professor Perovic. When it comes to this top-notch surgeon, he certainly blows my mind away. In my opinion, he may be the best urological surgeon currently worldwide. This man really knows his stuff! I can honestly say that he has done an excellent job with me. It is a real honor to have counted on such a wise man to thicken my penis due to his expertise and professionalism. The only thing I regret is not to have met these doctors much earlier. I do take my hat off to the two of them.

“By the same token, the nurses and doctors who attended me at the medical facility treated me not only kindly but also very professionally. The nurses gave me the red-carpet treatment from the beginning, which made me unwind and chilled out. I think I even returned to Spain with a few extra kilos. On top of that, I must say that I didn’t know Serbian women were so beautiful!

“Last but not least, I would like to address now Mr. RothHaas. I would have never taken the plunge without him. He is extremely competent and hard-working. It never elapsed more than twenty-four hours to get a concrete reply (on many occasions it was just a few hours). He is straightforward and diligent, which makes you believe and trust the incredible team which work together with Dr. Perovic. Besides, he is empathetic and tries to be always helpful to those requiring surgery, which results in an outstanding service. Undeniably, he plays a vital role within this complex machinery.

My Serbian Experience

“In South Africa, we have very few SRS surgeons. Those that we have very seldom do Phalloplasty and are therefore not very experienced and give inferior results with many complications.

“I started out my transition thinking I would never get lower surgery. After a few years on testosterone, that changed and I realized I needed to complete my transition. I started researching surgeons from all over the world. My criteria were that I did not want to use my arm and that I could urinate standing up.

“I spent about a year researching and one day came across Dr Perovic’s website. I knew immediately I wanted him to be my surgeon. I contacted his case manager Richard and received the quote. I felt really depressed as I did not have the money and didn’t know how I could ever save enough.

“I contacted a local surgeon and went for an assessment. Later that year, I received a date for surgery and in that moment knew that I couldn’t proceed. I realized I have one chance at being happy and the results of my surgery would be with me forever.

“I sat down and started planning. I knew my target and, even though it seemed impossible, I just somehow got the courage to believe it could be possible.

“I started saving every cent I had. I no longer went out, did not buy new clothes and bought cheaper food as I could to get by.

“The time came when I was almost ready to go and the foreign currency exchange rate shot up. My loving family came to the rescue and I was able to meet the deadline for my surgery date.

“I was all of a sudden filled with panic. I would be going to a country I had never even heard about before the website. I had no idea what the hospitals were going to be like or even if the doctors and nurses could speak English. BUT I was determined to start what I had finished.

“When I arrived in Belgrade, I was really nervous but Dr Nikola picked me up from the airport and he had such a calming effect on me. He was very easy going and made me laugh all the way to the clinic.

“When I arrived at the clinic I started to feel even better. It was really clean and the nurses were very friendly. There were two other American guys there who were further on with their stages and they helped a lot in answering questions.

“At this stage I knew nothing about the surgeons and had spoken to nobody who had been there before. The anesthesiologiist was incredibly friendly and very confident which helped me to relax a lot.

“Dr Rados came to see me before surgery and he was really great, answered my questions and put me at ease. Dr Rados is an incredible surgeon and his talent is world class.

“The physiotherapist was amazing. She really helped to stretch the skin before surgery and was very kind.

“The nurses were incredible. They worked long shifts but were always so supportive, kind and went out of their way to make sure everything was OK.

“The rooms were cleaned very well, dressings were changed often, trash bags emptied, and care taken to ensure that I was comfortable which was not easy in that situation but, compared to South African private clinics, the attention I received was exceptional.

“Richard has been absolutely unbelievable in his attention to detail and questions were answered honestly and quickly.

“It has been a year now, and I am ready to go back for my second stage and I am excited, no longer nervous and quite happy at the prospects of seeing everyone at the clinic again.

“I have sensation about half way up my phallus which is a bonus for me as this was one of the things that wasn’t one of my priorities.

“I have a good size penis and will next year start saving towards the penile prosthesis implant.

“A couple of things that make me realize how fortunate I am is the fact that it will be possible for me to urinate normally plus I will be able to have intercourse and not be ashamed of having a small penis.

“Aesthetically, my penis is better than I hoped for. And I have become so confident and proud of my body. It is so nice to be able to look at myself naked in a mirror again. I know that the choice I made was the best choice I could have made. I do not regret for a minute going to Serbia and would love to go on holiday there one day. The people are great and it is a beautiful country.

“Hello, Richard. … It’s been a week since my return to the USA. During the flight and this past week I’ve had ample time to think about the life changing events I experienced in Belgrade.

“First let me begin by thanking you for all your involvement and care for making this a comfortable, easy and a rich experience. You, my friend, were key to making this all happen for me. There will never be any words that can express my appreciation for all that you did and all that you do.

“As for Perovic and his team of experts, there are not enough words to describe my feelings for him and his medical staff. I was amazed how above and beyond Perovic, Djinovic, Marco and head nurse, Mema had gone to ensure our comfort. I’ve been under the knife more than a few times but never have I ever experienced the level of care provided in Belgrade.

“The moment I entered the clinic all my jitters and fears dissipated because of the straightforwardness of Perovic and Djinovic and their down-to-earth attitude. They were a couple of regular guys with the gift to forever change a person’s life. The feeling of pretentiousness or arrogance never presented itself during the course of the conversation, but on the other hand there was a level of confidence and wealth of knowledge which reinforced my decision as to why I chose Perovic.

“What followed after only made a complicated and difficult procedure as easy as it could get. The nursing staff was more than amazing. They honestly and genuinely cared and tended to each patient with the utmost respect and dignity. Never once did I feel awkward when they attended to my needs.

“A special thanks to two particular nurses who cared for me just as if I were their family, Sonya and Helena. The attention of the nursing staff gave me a different perspective regarding the treatment of patients here in the U.S. There is a lot to be said about common courtesy and empathy and wanting the best outcome for another human being. I lend this attitude and attentiveness of such superior treatment to my remarkable recovery after a complicated procedure.

“Although I know that not all care providers in the U.S. are all bad, the difference of being treated as none other than an equal, along with the emotional capacity to care, sets this Belgrade team apart from many others.

“Pain management and the willingness to communicate and provide you with the best techniques possible made for outstanding results. As I heal, I become more and more excited about the possibilities of the final stage of my phalloplasty. Until than I feel very blessed to have come this far.

“My friend and I were speaking about how we could support here in the U.S. the work of Dr. Perovic and the work you do. There are a few men thinking about making the trip to Belgrade after hearing of my experience. You already know about one and maybe a few others to follow within the year.
